10 Years of GRECH & CO. | Founder's Reflections

It began with small hands and sleepless nights ~ a mother searching for meaning in the quiet hours between who she had been and who she was becoming. It was never about building a business ~ it was about building a life that made sense to my soul.

I was a California girl raised in sunshine and salt water, who somehow found herself building a world of calm and colour in Denmark. Between those two landscapes ~ freedom and form, wild and rooted ~ GRECH & CO. found its magic.

Before design, I was a Special Education teacher ~ with a Master’s in Education and a heart for understanding how children learn, grow, and feel safe in the world. When I became a mother, that same devotion shifted into something new ~ a desire to create pieces that supported not just the child, but the whole family ~ designs that considered comfort, sustainability, and the quiet emotional needs of everyday life.

GRECH & CO. was never planned. It unfolded softly, imperfectly, through instinct and devotion. Born at the kitchen table, it became a study in how design can hold feeling ~ how family life can become art when shaped with intention.

I didn’t begin with strategy, and it still has no outside funding. I began with heart ~ learning to build a business while learning to be a mother ~ learning to sustain creativity and ambition without losing tenderness.

Over time, I discovered that leadership isn’t built from certainty, but from care ~ that sustainability isn’t a label, but a practice ~ and that business, when guided by soul, can become a form of poetry.

From those early days of making came The Biz Diaries ~ a space for community. To share our stories about building something from nothing. Not the polished version ~ but the honest, human one. The late nights, the lessons learned too late, the quiet resilience of trying again.

And soon, The Creative Life Society ~ a home for the next chapter ~ where everything I’ve learned about design, storytelling, and feminine leadership will live as teaching, community, and self-return.

Because this is what I’ve come to know ~ building a business is not about becoming more. It’s about becoming truer ~ to your values, to your work, and to the quiet voice that began it all.
